商朝卦書 《歸藏》記錄了“嫦娥奔月”的最原始版本，然而《歸藏》失傳已久，僅存秦簡《歸藏·歸妹》兩支殘簡。上面記載：“昔者恒我竊毋死之（缺失）奔月，而攴占（缺失）”。恒我即嫦娥原名。蕭統(tǒng)在《昭明文選》中兩度引用 《歸藏》為“嫦娥奔月”作注，分別是 《祭顏光祿文》中的“昔嫦娥以西王母不死之藥服之，遂奔為月精”（嫦娥服用西王母的長生不老神藥后，飛奔月宮，羽化月仙）及 《月賦》中的“昔嫦娥以不死藥奔月”（嫦娥服用長生不老神藥后飛奔月宮）。?[1]?

先秦時期，《山海經(jīng)·大荒西經(jīng)》記載：“有女子方浴月，帝俊妻常羲生月十二，此始浴之”（有個女子正在替月亮洗澡，她是帝俊的妻子常羲，生了十二個月亮，這才開始給月亮洗澡）。羲、儀、娥三字古音相同，畢沅注解《呂氏春秋》認定嫦娥的“前世”為常羲：“‘尚儀’即‘常儀’，古讀‘儀’為‘何’，后世遂有‘嫦娥’之鄙云?！?[1]?

西漢，《淮南子·覽冥訓》在奔月神話中加入羿的元素：“羿請不死之藥于西王母，姮娥竊以奔月，悵然有喪，無以續(xù)之。何則？不知不死之藥所由生也?！保鄰奈魍跄柑幍玫介L生不老藥，被姮娥偷走吞下奔月，羿悵然若失，因為他不知道長生不老藥的藥方和制作方法）?[1-2]??

東漢，《靈憲》將姮娥寫成了蟾蜍：“羿請不死之藥于西王母。姮娥竊之以奔月。將往，枚占于有黃，有黃占之曰‘吉，翩翩歸妹，獨將西行，逢天晦芒，毋驚毋恐，后且大昌’，姮娥遂托身于月，是為蟾蜍。”（羿從西王母處得到長生不老藥，被姮娥偷走吞下奔月。奔月出發(fā)前，特意找一個叫有黃的大師算了一卦，問詢此行是兇是吉。有黃大師掐指一算，“吉”，并且告誡姮娥飛升“逢天晦芒”遇到天象有變時，切莫驚慌恐懼，只要勇敢闖過這一關(guān)，定會逢兇化吉，遇難成祥。姮娥終于飛升月宮，化身蟾蜍）在古人的文化觀念中，蟾蜍是神物，能夠避邪氣、助長生。古人遂視蟾蜍為月亮的象征，姮娥既“托身于月”。?[2]?

東漢末年，高誘注解《淮南子》指出嫦娥是羿之妻：“姮娥，羿妻。羿請不死之藥于西王母，未及服之，姮娥竊食之，得仙，奔入月中，為月精也?！保▕鹗囚嗟钠拮樱鄰奈魍跄柑幍玫介L生不老藥，還沒來得及服用，就被姮娥偷走吞下，成為神仙，奔向月宮，成為月神）?[2]?

張衡對奔月細節(jié)的豐富和高誘對嫦娥羿夫妻關(guān)系的定位，奠定了嫦娥奔月神話的基本輪廓，東晉干寶《搜神記》等關(guān)于嫦娥故事的書寫都沒超出這個范圍。而《說文解字》記載： “恒，常也?！蓖x相代，再加上諱漢文帝劉恒之名而將“姮娥”改作“嫦娥”。?[1-2]??

南北朝以后，嫦娥的形象從蟾蜍回歸為女兒身。南朝宋時期，顏延之《為織女贈牽牛》：“婺女儷經(jīng)星，姮娥棲飛月，慚無二媛靈，托身侍天闕?！币詩鹋c婺女并舉，且不再提及化身蟾蜍之事。而謝莊《月賦》“引玄兔于帝臺，集素娥于后庭”，徐陵《玉臺新詠序》“麝月與嫦娥競爽”，或引嫦娥于天帝后庭，或舉皓月以媲美，嫦娥一躍而為美麗的“月中嫦娥”、“廣寒仙子”。?[2]??[16]?

明清時期，隨著明清市民文學的勃興，嫦娥的形象逐漸世俗化。在《西游記》中，嫦娥是一個職稱，指月宮中的眾仙女，天蓬元帥調(diào)戲的是霓裳仙子。在《聊齋志異》中，嫦娥雖仍是天上神仙，卻因貶謫下凡，擺脫了神性
